I am almost 17 weeks pregnant.

I havent had any problems with my teeth before but this pregnancy is wrecking havoc in my mouth.  I actually had a tooth break into tiny pieces and come out.  I am now noticing that my gums bleed & Ive got 2 teeth in the front on the bottom that are receding down to almost nothing in the way of gums.  HAS ANYONE ELSE HAS ISSUES? Did you see a dentist? Could they do anything whle pregnant!  IM TERRIFIED TO LOSE MY TEETH!!!!!

Dental care during pregnancy is necessary...really.  My dentist's assistant got smart with me the time I was there about not brushing well enough..because my gums were puffy from plaque. Hum, nope when she cleaned the area they were puffy because they were receding because of my allergies I was sleeping with my mouth open...so my gums were yucky in the front of my mouth.  Make sure you take calcium...get dental care...and do it now.  (this coming from someone who is scared to death of the dentist!)  I found this pregnancy my gums bleed more then usual...from what I read some people go through dental issues during. My supervisor warned me to keep up on my nice teeth because "having my son killed my teeth! They cracked and hurt. Make sure you take your calcium" Keeping you in my thoughts!

The increased blood flow from pregnancy can result in gingivitis and periodontal disease (which it sounds like you have)... you definately need to see a dentist.

Also, elevated blood sugar levels can cause this too, so you may want to have your OB check your hemoglobin A1c.

Good luck.

I went to see my dentist right before getting pregnant are oral care is very important during pregnancy!!!!  Just for cleaning and check up.  My dentist saw me three months after I got preggo again just for check and cleaning.  Then scheduled another appointment right after the babies arrive.

The only thing they won't do is xrays....my dentist also didn't give any numbing medswhen they scrap the teeth during the cleaning which was fine....

Please get to the dentist ASAP.  I have read that poor oral care can lead to complications.  I am not trying to scare you just trying to give you some info.  Just my 2 cents hope that helps.
